What Is A Shadow Box?

A shadow box is an enclosed case used in dioramas with a scene or object(s), that has been specially designed to let light pass through from only one angle, so that objects within are less susceptible to damage from light.

People often purchase these in order to preserve, and still enjoy memorabilia.

About Our Shadow Boxes

All shadow boxes made by Legends of the Heart are individually hand-crafted, painted and assembled by caring artisans; there are no machines, assembly lines or mass production equipment. This allows us to concentrate on quality, personalization, a great deal of creativity and, of course, a touch of imagination rather than quantity and generic reproduction.

As a result, each shadow box becomes as personal to “us” as it does to “you.” As strange as it may seem, to a creative, artistic mind, your “legend” of the heart becomes our "legend" of the heart as well.

Many of our shadow boxes come with an 18-note, 3 minute wind up Sanyo musical movement, which plays a tune well fitted for its theme…and is your option to include at the time of purchase. For example, our military shadow boxes come with several choices depending on the branch of service: "The Marines Hymn", "Anchors Aweigh" and "God Bless America", to name a few. Baseball shadow boxes, of course, play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

A great deal of our work involves working in “miniature”.....creating things that resemble the “original”…which enhances the imagination of our staff with every new design. After completion, we often ask our customers for testimonials and if we can include their shadow box as a part of our “gallery of legends” so that others may see and read what we are truly about.

All of our shadow boxes come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Legends of the Heart, a product registration number and signed by the artisan/artisans responsible for the design and production.
